Ford of Canada's St. Thomas assembly plant will get a $300-million US investment over three years as the automaker gives its vehicles a facelift, a Canadian Auto Workers union official said yesterday. The news comes as the plant is facing a serious downturn in production and employment, assembling 80,000 fewer Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis vehicles this year than just three years ago, said Whitey MacDonald, president of CAW Local 1520.
