Kate Pace-Lindsay - Alpine Skier
Born: North Bay, Ont.
Residence: White Lake, Ont.
Club: North Bay Ski Racers
Birthdate: 13/02/69
On national team since: 1988
World sprint record holder Donovan Bailey was once asked who was the most
impressive athlete he had ever met and his answer was Kate Pace-Lindsay, who
also just happens to be the wife of Bailey's personal
chiropractor/physiotherapst Mark Lindsay.
Though she's been a slump of sorts over the last two seasons because of a number
of minor injuries, the affable North Bay native is unquestionably one of the
great women's speed racers in the world, as her two gold medals on the World Cup
circuit and victory at the 1993 world championships show. Her leading run on the
course in Morioko-Shizukuishi, Japan at the '93 worlds was accomplished despite
having suffered a broken wrist shortly before. That's the kind of determination
Pace-Lindsay is known for.
Truly an ambassador for the sport of ski racing both abroad and at home, the
proud graduate of the North Bay Ski Racers is hoping that her luck on the
slopes of Japan continues at the Nagano Olympics continues this February.
