Luke Sauder - Alpine Skier
Born: North York
Residence: Cambridge, Ont.
Club: Osler Bluff
Birthdate: 13/09/70
On national team since: 1992
Next to Edi Podivinsky, North York's Luke Sauder was the top Canadian downhiller
on the World Cup circuit last season, placing a respectable 23rd overall, which
included four top-15 finishes. His 11th-place showing in Chamonix, France on
Jan.11 represented a career best.
A bit of a late bloomer on the world scene, Sauder sraces with that
quintessential, go-for-broke Crazy Canuck style, fists-pumping, arms-waving. The
Cambridge-based skier has proven that dedication to the craft, as well as
experience, can take an athlete a long way on the world stage.
It seems to be just a matter of time before Sauder, if he can avoid injuries,
cracks the top-10 with consistency.
