Kevin Quintilio is one of three men qualified for Canada's Olympic biathlon team. He met the criteria two seasons ago when he placed a personal best 22nd in 10 kilometre World Cup race but has struggled to reach a similar result ever since. He missed most of the second half of last season due to a separated shoulder suffered at the last World Cup before the Christmas break.
"It took me until the spring to feel comfortable with the shoulder again," said the Hinton, Alta., resident. "This year I just want to be consistent and move up a level. I've taken more control of my program this year and it's turning out quite well. It's important to have confidence and I've gained that with maturity."
Quintilio is a former cross country skier who was at one time on both the national junior cross country and biathlon teams. He placed 11th at the 1993 world junior biathlon championships, still Canada's best ever male result at the event.
