    Canadians in top five in cross-country ski race

     SPOKANE, Wash. (CP) -- Eric de Nys of Prince George, B.C., and Phil Villeneuve of Sarsfield, Ont., were third and fourth, respectively, in the Continental Cup cross-country ski competition Saturday.
     American Mark Gilbertson won the event in 31 minutes 19.3 seconds. De Nys finished 35 seconds after Gilbertson. Villeneuve was another 11 seconds behind.
     In the women's five-kilometre race, Tara Moran of Smithers, B.C., was fifth behind four Americans. Suzanne King won in 19:23.7, with Moran 1:36.2 behind.
     Junior skiiers Stefan Kuhn from Canmore, Alta., was ninth, George Grey of Rossland, B.C., 11th and Calgary's Brian McKeever 22nd in the men's race.
     The competition continues today.

Nathan Schultz, U.S., 32:09; 9. Stefan Kuhn, Canmore, Alta., 32:21.7; 11. George Grey, Rossland, B.C., 32:25.1; 22. Brian McKeever, Calgary, 33:38.2.
     WOMEN 5 km Classic
     1. Suzzanne King, U.S., 19:23.7; 2. Wendy Wagner, U.S., 19:30.3; 3. Laura McCabe, U.S., 19:48; 4. Cindy Hillemeyer, U.S., 20:47; 5. Tara Moran, Smithers, B.C., 20:59.9.
