Calgary's Ryan Johnson was the rookie revelation on the Canadian men's moguls team last winter. Johnson, 23, certainly showed he belonged from the start. He won a bronze at the season opener in Tignes, then claimed gold at Breckenridge, Colorado, regarded as the steepest moguls course in the world, last January. He wound up 10th overall on the World Cup and a respectable 13th at the world championships. Johnson's emergence assures Canada a fabulous foursome for the men's moguls Olympic event in Nagano. Johnson showed plenty of promise with three top-15 finishes on the World Cup as a member of Canada's national development team in 1995-96. Development team skiers usually compete on the NorAm circuit but receive an occasional opportunity to test their mettle at the World Cups held in North America.
