Isabelle Doucet - Long Track Speed
Skating
Isabelle Doucet was the biggest surprise of the Olympic trials in long
track speed skating when she qualified the fourth and final spot in the
women's 1,500 metres with a personal best time. Doucet was not a member of
the national A or B teams the past two seasons after competing at the 1995
world championships. She credits the Klap skater with her improvement this
season.
"The last three seasons had been average but this year I feel I've come
together mentally and physically," said Doucet a kinesiology student at
Universite Laval in Quebec City. "The Klap has helped me a great deal
because it adapts to my style of skating. I've met the Olympic standards
three times in the last couple of months."
