    Speed skating disrupted by accident

NAGANO, Japan (CP) -- The final run of the men's 500-metre long-track speed skating event was disrupted early today when a pair of skaters collided coming round the final turn.
Grunde Njos of Norway, on the inside, lost his footing and slid into Erben Wennemars, taking out the legs of the Dutch skater. Wennemars fell heavily into the boards, writhing in agony and holding what appeared to be an injured arm.
The accident came with four pairings left to race and right after Jeremy Wotherspoon of Red Deer, Alta., had taken over the overall lead.
