Finland wins team World Cup event
REIT IM WINKL, Germany (AP) -- Samppa Lajunen and Hannu Manninen of
Finland overcame a deficit from the ski jumping portion in the cross-country
race to surge past Japan and win a Nordic combined team World Cup event Monday.
With each racer taking turns over 1-kilometer laps, Lajunen and
Manninen finished the 15-kilometer cross-country race under floodlights in 32
minutes, 2.6 seconds.
Japan's Satoshi Mori and Kenji Ogiwara, who led after the ski jumping
portion in the afternoon and started 27 seconds ahead of the Finnish pair,
trailed at the end by 27.1 seconds.
The Austria I team of Christoph Eugen and Felix Gottwald finished
third, 1:10.5 behind the winners.

5. Norway I (Knut Apeland and Bjarte Vik), 1:21.6.
6. Russia II (Valeriy Stoljarov and Alexei Fadeyev), 1:26.0.0
