Valley Venom downs Nova Scotia Keltics

HALIFAX (CP) -- The Fraser Valley Venom downed the host Nova Scotia Keltics 15-9 on Saturday in the Rugby Canada Super League final.

Mike Beyea and Matt Kelhar each scored tries for the Venom with former national team member Kory Kawaguchi kicking a penalty and a convert.

Derek McCombe was responsible for all Keltic scoring with three penalty kicks.

The Valley Venom led 3-0 at halftime.

They advanced to the championship game with a 20-14 win over their arch-rival Crimson Tide last weekend. The win left the Venom tied at 4-1-0 with Manitoba Buffalo atop the West Division but the B.C. side moved on by virtue of its regular-season win over Manitoba.

The Keltics, 5-0-0, booked their berth in the final with a 16-15 road win over the Toronto Renegades.
