Kwan, Eldredge win at The Masters of Figure Skating

  • Results

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Michelle Kwan and Todd Eldredge were the winners Saturday night at The Masters of Figure Skating event.
Kwan earned three perfect scores of 6.0 for presentation. She skated in a new dress she received earlier in the day, an outfit that her mother altered so it could be ready for the evening competition.
"I really enjoyed myself tonight," Kwan said. "I am learning to compete with more joy."
Kwan finished ahead of 1995 world champion Yuka Sato. Nicole Bobek was third.
Eldredge, a five-time U.S. champion, got the only perfect score in the men's event for artistic merit.
Olympic gold medallist Alexei Urmanov was second and two-time Olympic silver medallist Brian Orser of Canada, the oldest competitor at 36, was third.
