Harts Stampeded by support

By ERIC FRANCIS -- Calgary Sun
Ross Hart has been flooded with phone calls since Page Six reported Stampede Wrestling will make a comeback April 2. Hart says many want to volunteer on fight night, but many more want the job as host which was admirably performed by Ed Whelan for 27 years.
Mauro Renaldo, a former villain manager on All-Star Wrestling, has already landed the job while CJAY's Bob Steele and Gerry Forbes have expressed on-air interest in the colour job. Steele has also chatted with Hart about the position, as has CKMX 1060 afternoon host Kevin Larkins.
However, it looks like A-Channel assignment editor Mark Kennedy may have the inside track on the gig tentatively slated to air on his channel in the fall. Hart will meet with A-Channel officials Monday and select a co-host by mid-week. Incidentally, tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. MST today for the comeback card April 2 at the Stampede Pavilion.
Confirmed wrestlers include British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith teaming up with Jim (The Anvil) Neidhart to face Gorgeous Gary Gallant and Todd "The Bod" Douglas. Former Stamp star Marvin "Big Daddy" Pope will take on H. Ivy Thomsen, while Native superstar Tatanka will tangle with Powerhouse Anderson. Tickets range from $12 to $18 and are available at the Stampede box office and Ticketmaster.
