Mr. McMahon lays the Smackdown on WWF

By MR. X -- Ottawa Sun
PARTS UNKNOWN -- The World Wrestling Federation has a new heavyweight champion -- and it's a stunner.

Thanks to help from Stone Cold Steve Austin, WWF owner Vince McMahon won the title Thursday on Smackdown. Triple-H challenged McMahon and paid the price.

What happens next is anyone's guess.

AROUND THE WWF: Smackdown was solid, with several good bits. The refs went on strike, the Dudley Boys proved they're possibly the WWF's best tag team and The Rock once again was great with the microphone ... ECW champ Taz' signing is imminent ... Glen Jacobs (Kane) has purchased a family gym in Tennessee ... Jesse "The Body" Ventura is featured in an interview in the November issue of Playboy ... WWF: The Music, Volume 4 will be released in early November ... Good news for gamers: WWF Attitude will be released for the new Sega Dreamcast ... Nicole Bass has filed a $120-million lawsuit against the WWF, with sexual harrassment among the allegations.

WCW BITS: Eric Bischoff has finally paid the price for WCW's horrible ratings. He's been shuffled out of his vice-president's job ... Sting is the new WCW champ, thanks to some help from Lex Luger's baseball bat. Sting and Luger appear to have aligned themselves with Diamond Dallas Page ... Sid Vicious defeated Chris Benoit for the U.S. title ... Harlem Heat won the tag-team titles, downing the Windhams ... Lenny Lane won the cruiserweight title over Kaz Hayashi ... Master P has found life after WCW. The rapper/wrestler has signed with the Toronto Raptors to play basketball ... Road Wild has been axed and so have heavy metal legends Kiss.
