I have always been a huge fan of pro-wrestling for as long as I remember. Some of my fondest memories are of watching Grand Prix Wrestling with my dad on Saturday afternoons. He would often grit his teeth in anger because of Killer Karl Krupp and Bob Brown. This is where I first became amazed at the ring style of Leo Burke and
Stephen Petitpas.
Most of these photos were owned by my family, which I found several years ago while cleaning my basement. Others were taken by me at local venues. Some were torn or damaged by water, but I was able to clean them up a bit before posting them.
I hope everyone enjoys this brief look at the history of pro - wrestling in the Maritimes. I will post more photos as time permits.

A Brief History of Grand Prix

Grand Prix Wrestling has been a part of the Maritime wrestling tradition for decades. I know that the Maritime territory was owned by Al Zinck and Rudy Kay (Eastern Sports Association Limited) and was named International Wrestling in the early '70s.
The territory was taken over by Emile Dupre in the late '70s/early '80s. Dupre kept the territory until the early '90s. "Stompin'" Paul Peller then took over the territory with little success, largely due to the fact that Grand Prix was no longer on local TV station ATV. Just a few years ago, Emile Dupre decided to test the waters with the "Legends of Grand Prix" tour. A great success with a mixture of true legends (Leo Burke, Beast, Cuban Assasin and Bobby Bass to name a few) and new talent (including such greats as Don 'Jackyal' Callis, Edge and Kurrgan).
