Jerry Lynn new ECW champ
By JOHN POWELL -- SLAM! Wrestling

LYNN Jerry Lynn is your new ECW World Heavyweight Champion.
Though it took 12 long years, Jerry Lynn can testify to the fact that good things come to those who wait. Last night at the ECW Anarchy Rulz pay-per-view in his home state of Minnesota, Lynn whipped Justin Credible to win the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. Participating in a string of pro wrestling's better matches over the last five years, Lynn's push as champ can be directly attributed to his sensational work inside of the squared circle. ECW recognized the value of Lynn's in-ring contribution to the promotion and rightfully rewarded him for it on Sunday night.

Heel referee Danny Daniels (substituting for a fallen official) was the fly in Lynn's ointment physically attacking him and slapping unfair counts throughout the bout until New Jack swatted him...but good. Lynn had Credible beat with his Cradle Piledriver. Daniels refused to count the pinfall screaming insults into Lynn's face. New Jack's music sounded spelling doom for Daniels. Trucking plunder with him to the ring, New Jack dented a cookie sheet over Daniels head and then stealing a page from out of the infamous Mr. Pogo's book, took a scythe-like weapon to his forehead.

LYNN Jerry Lynn and Justin Credible stare each other down before the match.
Credible caned New Jack from behind driving him into a corner. As Credible turned around Lynn lifted him into a Cradle Piledriver. Lynn came out on the winning end of a series of reversals skewering Credible with his finishing move. The first referee made the count declaring Lynn the new ECW champ.

Face wrestlers such as The Sandman, Roadkill and Tommy Dreamer gathered in the ring to applaud Lynn while the hometown crowd chanted his name. Microphone problems tainted Lynn's shining moment though. As he tried to address the crowd, Lynn's mike went dead. Lynn handed it to The Sandman who had no better luck. The production crew was forced to cut to the new Limp Bizkit video sponsored by an Internet music site.

Credible was the lone ECW champ to lose his title at Anarchy Rulz. The Full Blooded Italians (F.B.I.) successfully defended their World Tag Team Championship with another bail-out by Big Sal. In a shocker, Rob Van Dam failed to win back the Television Title which he forfeited back to the company due to an injury.
RHINO Rhino uses his size and strength against Rob Van Dam.
Heavily favoured going in, RVD was thrown off his game by a Justin Credible cane shot causing him to pause during his Van Terminator finisher. The distraction allowed champion Rhino to pull manager Bill Alphonso in the way so he absorbed the full impact. Rhino gored RVD through a table and piledrived him on a steel chair to hold onto the title. The decision didn't go over well with the crowd who chanted "Bulls--t!" in unison.

  • The next ECW pay-per-view is November To Remember 2000 on November 5th.

Danny Doring, Roadkill Vs Christian York, Joey Matthews

  • York and Matthews could adopt The Rockers Y2K moniker and it would fit. Doring and Roadkill pull out the win though their celebration is short-lived. Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger do a run-in pushing Roadkill off the top rope, double chair shot York - Matthews and drill Doring with The Problem Solver.

  • Winners: Doring, Roadkill at 7 minutes and 6 seconds.
  • Match Rating: 6 / 10.

  • Gertner eats Lucky Charms in preparation for his match against Cyrus. He says a famous wrestler has trained him to take on Cyrus. Cyrus enters the ring laying a vicious verbal assault on Gertner. The Stud Muffin makes his way to the ring. Joey Styles says: "He's a dead man! God help Joel." Cyrus tells Gertner that he'll get his match with him if he can through his boys. Out come EZ Money, Chris Hamrick and Julio Dinero. ECW Commissioner, Spike Dudley lays down the law. If EZ Money can beat Kid Kash, then there will be no match. If not, Cyrus must fight Gertner.

    Kid Kash Vs EZ Money

  • This Kid Kash has skills, baby. His athleticism and uncanny agility continue to impress. Kash fends off Dinero and Hamrick to turn a top rope powerbomb from EZ Money into a hurracanrana. Kash wins. Gertner and Cyrus will duke it out. Dinero and Hamick punk Kash. Spike unleashes an Acid Drop on Dinero. EZ Money punishes Spike's already injured knee and slaps a figure four on him. The Sandman canes everyone and pours beer on Electra.

  • Winner: Kid Kash at 9 minutes and 37 seconds.
  • Match Rating: 7.5 / 10.

    Cyrus Vs Joel Gertner

  • Gertner takes off his shirt revealing Kamala-like markings on his chest. He slaps his tummy while avalanching Cyrus. Sandman sprays beer into Cyrus' face. Gertner school-boys Cyrus for the 1-2-3. All the faces guzzle beer. Joel smacks a beer can against his forehead like Sandman does and almost knocks himself out. Very funny stuff.

  • Winner: Joel Gertner at 2 minutes and 31 seconds.
  • Match Rating: 1 / 10.

The Baldies Vs Balls Mahoney, Chilly Willy

  • If Rikishi lost 200 pounds he would be Chilly Willy. Chilly takes a nasty bump as he is powerbombed by Angel on a row of seats. Ouch! Angel staples Balls in the eye. Devito and Angel chair-shot Willy and Balls three time before they double-pin them. The announcers play up Balls' injury saying he might have lost an eye.

  • Winners: The Baldies at 7 minutes and 37 seconds.
  • Match Rating: 4 / 10.

  • Out of nowhere, Lou E. Dangerously lays out Gertner in the commentators' booth. Styles wants to pay him back but security separates them. There is a cut to the production room. Someone who looks like Paul Heyman pitches a clipboard across the room.

    C.W. Anderson Vs Steve Corino

  • The winner becomes the number one contender to the ECW World Heavyweight Title. It takes just over six minutes for Corino to start wearing a crimson mask. Jack Victory stops Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger from interfering. Corino switches an Anderson Spinebuster into the Old School Expulsion to win the bout.

  • Winner: Steve Corino at 12 minutes and 52 seconds.
  • Match Rating: 7.5 / 10.

The F.B.I. (champions) Vs Yoshiro Tajiri, Mikey Whipwreck (challengers)(ECW World Tag Team Title Match)

  • As Tony Mamaluke is hanging in the "tree of woe" the Sinister Minister shoots a fireball out of his cane into Mamaluke's groin. Holy crap! Big Sal avalanches the Minister against the steel guard rail. Sal climbs onto the ring apron and throws one of the tag belts into the ring. Big Sal gets beaned with it. Tajiri dives onto Big Sal outside the ring. Sal basically sits on him so he can't move. Whipwreck is double-teamed and loses.

  • Winners: ...and still ECW World Tag Team Champions...The F.B.I. at 8 minutes and 16 seconds.
  • Match Rating: 6 / 10.
