    World Cup dictionary published

PARIS (AP) -- Questions about the World Cup? Not to worry. France's king of dictionaries, Larousse, has published a 480-page compendium of the obscure to the obvious.
The new dictionary, which also has 300 illustrations, traces the history of soccer from 1863, the date that the sport first officially declared its rules, Le Figaro reported.
The up-to-date volume even includes a reference to the Jan. 28 friendly match between France and Spain, which inaugurated the new Stade de France outside Paris, which was built specially for the World Cup, the newspaper said.
The dictionary, which sells for $47 Cdn includes information on all the teams playing in this year's World Cup, major soccer personalities as well as the history of the game.
But there's more than Larousse out there.
The Solar publisher has put out a 240-page dictionary devoted to Brazilian football written by Alain Fontan, a French expert in South American football.
Nathan, a French publisher specializing in the youth market, has come up with "Soccer Passion," a 98-page illustrated volume that clearly outlines the rules of the game and has short biographies of the most famous players.
And for couch potatoes, France's TF1 television has edited a video of The best goals of the World Cup.
