FIFA contest heats up
FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- It looks like Blatter vs. Johansson.
Sepp Blatter, general secretary of FIFA, is expected to announce his
candidacy for the job of president of soccer's world governing body in Paris on
Monday.
Joao Havelange, the Brazilian chief of FIFA, is stepping down in June
after 24 years.
The only candidate to have declared for the job is UEFA president
Lennart Johansson of Sweden, who reportedly has the backing of European and
African national federations.
