Tuesday, October 7, 1997Poland shuts out Moldova in qualifierKISHINEV, Moldova (AP) -- Poland, behind three goals by Andrezj Juskowiak, beat winless Moldova 3-0 on Tuesday in a World Cup qualifier in Europe's Group Two.Although Moldova dominated the first half, it missed several chances to score, disappointing fans who hoped for their country's first victory after seven defeats. Neither country has a chance of qualifying for next year's World Cup in France. Juskowiak began his hat trick in the 23rd minute with a goal from 8 yards that he pun past three Moldovan defenders. Nine minutes later, Moldova missed a chance when Ion Tistimetianu slammed a ball into the Polish defensive wall from 25 yards on a free kick. In the 45th minute, Moldovan Sergiu Epureanu hit the crossbar and the ball and bounced off. Juskowiak got his second goal in the 53rd minute and four minutes later scored his third goal.
