In most of the 16 major European cities analyzed, the daily rate for a standard double room declined from September to October (drops of 19%, 15% and 14% for Amsterdam, Barcelona and Berlin respectively), according to the latest Trivago-Relaxnews hotel price index. An overall decrease in prices was also seen year-on-year, with Madrid (-23%) and Istanbul (-15%) showing the sharpest decline in prices from October 2012 to October 2013.
