The spotlight remains on Miami this week as Art Basel Miami Beach hits town. Overlapping with global exhibition forum Design Miami, the Art Basel event will showcase 258 galleries from 31 different countries, exhibiting the most current trends in contemporary art.

The show is broken down into seven sectors covering all aspects of modern art. For the first time ever, this year's event will include a sector dedicated to prints and limited edition works.

Highlights include the Public sector, which gives visitors the chance to see open-air sculptures and performances and has been curated by Nicholas Baume, Director and Chief Curator of New York City's Public Art Fund.

The Nova sector, which allows galleries to display lesser-known works produced in the last three years, features work from artists such as José Carlos Martinat, Marina Samão and Daniela Ortiz.

However, the main focus of the show will remain the Galleries sector, which brings together 195 of the world's leading galleries and incorporates the mediums of paint, drawing, sculpture, installations, print, photography, film, video and digital art.

Some of the most hotly anticipated exhibits will be displayed by galleries including Pace/MacGill Gallery, Foksal Gallery Foundation, Timothy Taylor Gallery and Thai newcomers Tang Contemporary Art.

Art Basel stages shows in Miami, Basel and Hong Kong. Art Basel Miami Beach will take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center from December 5-8, 2013.
