As skiers look to the 2015 season, the SCARPA F1 Evo is a lightweight ski-touring boot they're adding to their must-have lists.

Weighing in at just 2.7 pounds per boot and coming in at $699, it's made partially of carbon fiber that gives it extra strength without eliminating a slight flexibility in the shin area and takes off considerable weight relative to other boots.

The touring boot switches modes automatically between skiing and walking, offering hands-free convenience. A Boa closure system wraps it up.

It's won editorial awards from magazines such as Backpacker, Backcountry and Outside as well as the blogs Gear Junkie and Gear Industry.

Other stand-out ski boots for the upcoming season were Salomon's Quest pro 100 Women's boots (€380,, which were honored in Powder magazine.
