The Potala Palace in Lhasa, in the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China, is the most recommended UNESCO World Heritage site on TripAdvisor.

Through the World Heritage partnership started in 2009, TripAdvisor and UNESCO encourage travelers to review the sites included on the World Heritage list.

The Dalai Lama's winter palace since the 7th century tops the list, while Ironbridge Gorge in England comes second and the Palace and Park of Fontainebleau in France is third on the list based on a million reviews on TripAdivor through its partnership with UNESCO.

"When TripAdvisor users write a review about a hotel, a restaurant or a sight located near a UNESCO World Heritage Site, they are asked to answer a survey about their experience on the site and if they would recommend the site," explains the world's largest on-line community of travelers, with over 75 million reviews and opinions.
