Key rings and wall calendars are old news -- when it comes to tourist souvenirs, these days it's all about bringing home the building.
After four years of development, Little Building Co is releasing its model kit of the Sydney Opera House -- the second in its series of architectural models.
The concept was first launched when the Guggenheim Museum in New York approached the company and asked for a to-scale replica of the famous building by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Manufactured from timber, the architectural model could have come out of a designer's studio and captures all the structural details of the Sydney Opera House -- one of the greatest buildings of the 20th century and a World Heritage site since 2007.
"We aim to address the absence of high quality products in the marketplace that do justice to some of the world's best architecture," says Marcus Bree from Bree Industries, producers of the Little Building Co range of products.
Currently listed on crowdfunding website Kickstarter, the first models are expected to ship in early 2015 for a starting pledge price of AUD$ 120 (about US$112).
