Americans and Mexicans have emerged the world's most devoted soccer fans according to the number crunchers over at Facebook, who've compiled lists of the top international World Cup visitors based on check-ins around the world.

For their data, analysts looked at Facebook check-ins around the 12 Brazilian World Cup host cities by users who live outside Brazil through to June 16.

The largest fan contingent by country is the US, followed by Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Argentina.

In terms of cities, it appears that Mexico City sent the most fans, followed by Bogota, Santiago, Buenos Aires and London.

Analysts also break down the demographics to a few statistics, albeit predictable: the majority of visitors are male (68%) and 69% of visitors are aged 18 and 34.
