Q: Where can I find out about wait times at border crossings into the United States and the latest duty free allowances? -- J. Larkin, Etobicoke A: The Canadian Border Services Agency website reports on wait times at the busiest land border ports of entry. Up to date information on duty free allowances is also available there. "Wait times include the time it takes to reach the primary inspection booth, and the first point of contact with CBSA when crossing the Canada/U.S. land border," reports the federal agency. And if you don't like queues, be prepared to go when you see "no delay." CBSA says this typically means a wait of less than 10 minutes. You can also get updates on Twitter. And the federal agency has a mobile website devoted to these topics, too, with a handy duty and tax estimator based on province.
