The first-ever Instagramers Gallery has opened its doors in Miami, in a move the social media site hopes to repeat in strategic cities all over the world.
Located in the city's art district, the site displays photography in Instagram format in addition to hosting exhibits, seminars and forums.
The concept is part of a three-step initiative from Instagramers Blog founder Phil González and social innovations expert Jorge Martínez that includes Instagramers Gallery, InstagramersGallery.com and two Instagramers Prizes.
"Launching Instagramers Gallery seemed a natural progression after the success of the online portal," said González.
"Our vision and ultimate goal is to allow anyone and everyone the chance of being a featured artist -- this is the power of social media and we are looking forward to seeing how it is received by the public."
The second phase of the venture is InstagramersGallery.com, a virtual gallery which allows users to upload one photo per day.
Images posted will be entered into the daily Photo-Day Prize, a contest in which the online gallery audience will vote for a winner, who will receive $1,000.
Finalists from the Photo-Day Prize competitions will be judged against one another in the Instagramers Photo Prize, launching on December 16.
A $100,000 prize will be awarded to the winner, chosen by well-known figures in the world of art, photography and new technologies.
Instagramers Gallery is located at 2324 North Miami Avenue.
