Brooklyn? Fuggedaboutit. Editors at travel guide Lonely Planet have declared Queens New York's hottest borough, and the top US destination for 2015.
The latest edition of Lonely Planet's Best in the US list forecasts the destinations that have made their radar for exciting food scenes, adventures and unusual attractions, and for celebrating major milestones in 2015.
Topping their list this year is Queens, for boasting what they call the biggest and best Chinatown in NYC, dynamic neighborhood diversity -- Astoria and Rockaway -- and designer, boutique hotels that offer visitors more bang for their buck, just a few subway stops away from Manhattan.
Following Queens is Western South Dakota, which fetes the 75th anniversary of Sturgis Rally, one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the world, and the 50th anniversary of the Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup, in which cowboys and cowgirls wrangle a herd of about 1,300 buffalo.
Coming in third place is New Orleans, which marks the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina next year.
