DON'T FLIP! - WE FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT. We do not usually run the same photo in consecutive issues but this picture deserves an exception. Due to a computer glitch, only a small portion of this shot of Austin Hoyt flipping pancakes along the Back River in 1962 was visible on Page 8 of Outfit 101 (the upper left corner, in fact). Now you know the rest of the story . . . or picture!

THE LAST PORTAGE -- Boreal 2000 Paddlers Sarah Henderson (front) and Graham Nichols (back) portage their canoes onto Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Oct. 24, 2000. Henderson and Nichols along with team mates Ben O'Hara and Laura Shaw (not in photo) finished their 2700 mile, five month journey through Canada's wilderness to raise awareness for Canada's threatened boreal forests at the mouth of the Rideau Canal in Ottawa. Their website found at www.cpaws.org
