Winners ListSponsors' award winners at the Toronto International Film Festival: Metro Media Award: Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights and Curtis Hanson's L.A. Confidential. Runners-up were The Spanish Prisoner and The Sweet Hereafter. Rothmans World Film International Critics Award, as selected by the International Federation of Film Critics: Carine Adler's Under the Skin. NFB-John Spotton Award for best Canadian short film: Roshell Bissett's Cotton Candy. A special jury citation went to Brian Nash's bp -- Pushing the Boundaries. In all, 31 films were reviewed. It carries a $2,500 cash prize and $2,500 worth of NFB technical assistance on a future production. Citytv Award for best Canadian first feature: Vincenzo Natali's Cube. The award carries a cash prize of $15,000. Toronto-City Award for best Canadian feature: Thom Fitzgerald's The Hanging Garden and Atom Egoyan's The Sweet Hereafter. The two share a cash prize of $25,000 from Citytv and the City of Toronto. Air Canada People's Choice Award: The Hanging Garden. Runners-up were L.A. Confidential and The Edge.
